After having straddled the world of literature and fine arts for several years, Stéphane Roy chose to devote himself fully to electroacoustic music. The malleable richness of certain pictorial works sparked his imagination and strongly influenced his concept of an acousmatic art. Unstable spaces, kineticesm of sonic forms, shimmering vibrations of colors and contrasts of characters have dominated his compositions ever since.

Swarming, exploding, contrast and transparence. Colour! This sonic colour, klangfarben, born at the beginning of our century and which has nourished our contemporary mode of listening. In acousmatic works, the sound materials are fashioned, even sculpted, in order to put into relief their most singular characteristics. Among the sounds which result from the workings, there are those which possess a surprisingly evocative force. Kaleidos has its origins in such a process. One must prick up one’s ears to this art which electrifies the very interior of listening.
