These five songs are the result of a collaboration between composer David Jaeger and author David Cameron. A mutual friend, Sean Haldane, whose poetry has also been set by David Jaeger (The Echo Cycle, composed in 2017) introduced the two Davids in late 2017, and several projects resulted soon after, including I Never Knew (Five songs for soprano and piano) In a Darker Vein (Ten narrative pieces with piano accompaniment) and Gifts.
