Commissioned by Yoko Hirota
25 October, 2013, Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur, Montreal Yoko Hirota, piano solo
Fascinated by the eccentric and neurotic nature of many great artists in the past, Solus describes the state of mind of a creative individual’s extreme preoccupation with ideas, the desire to express, and the constant quest for perfection. This piece is written to pay tribute to artists who are true with their passions and indulged in their creative worlds. Solus is commissioned and written especially for pianist Yoko Hirota, through a grant by the Toronto Arts Council.
