The works included in these collections of hymn-based pieces were written over many years, but mostly in two bunches: 1997-98, just after the completion of my Master of Music degree; and beginning in 2017, after the completion of my Ph.D. (and ongoing). In both instances, they served as a way to reinvigorate myself, and bring the fun back to composition after the intense and narrow academic focus of my degrees. These pieces were written with practical liturgical use in mind—as preludes, postludes, offertories, etc. In no way are they meant to form any sort of coherent, unified collection, and they are not intended to be performed together as a set (though many of them are certainly suitable for concert use).
