Raymond Daveluy Quintette pour piano et cordes, 1989 Commissioned by: Premiered by: “The Quintet for Piano and Strings is a work of vast proportions in four movements. Its ties to such illustrious forebearers as the quintets by Franck and Vierne are evident in the moving lyricism of its themes, which are organically linked and reappear at various moments within the work, and the solidity of its construction allow the work’s expressiveness to be fully appreciated. Each musical idea undergoes multiple transformations that produce a series of ramifications stemming from an original source, in keeping with the ideal of diversity in unity.”
