From the onset of my piece, I thought that it was shaping itself in the image of human beings in relationship to fellow men and women and to nature. Along the way I was reminded of a book that had a great effect upon me when I was 17 or 18 years old, Nature Man and Woman (Amour et connaissance in French). Strongly inspired by Taoism and Zen Buddhism, this text by the British philosopher Alan Watts, an ardent lover of Eastern religions, had at that time a powerful influence on my vision of things and life. I consequently imagined the world as inexorably evolving towards an Eden where peace, love and the arts would reign. Today, seeing the state of the world, we perhaps have, even more than in the 1970s, such a need to dream of better times.
