Premiere
Vancouver, B.C. Canada Dunbar Lutheran Church 13 Dec 1996 Derek Darling
Peace is a piece of music which has two contrasting qualities. Atonal in nature – it has bars of lyrical material followed by bars of very fast moving non lyrical material. The reason for this type of structure is to make a point about the nature of inner peace. I will leave you to figure out what that point is. Peace is a challenging piece of music: very emotive and yet in some ways serene.First performed at a Christmas Concert at Dunbar Lutheran Church, its next performance came in June of 1998 when Derek Darling once again performed and recorded the piece (at St. Mark’s Place, Kitsilano, Canada).
