In Inclinations, my intention was to symbolize the struggle that is witnessed in our hearts between yielding to the blind forces that surround us and our instinct for happiness - our love of peace. To reference the great Swiss-French composer, Arthur Honegger, “Morass barbarism, stupidity, suffering, machine-mindedness, and bureaucracy”, all debilitating elements of our modern world, only dissuade us. Like his Symphonie Liturgique, my work too is a “drama (symbolically) played out between three characters: misery, happiness, and man” – all eternal themes.
