Additional Information
Instrumentation: piccolo musette (piccolo oboe) in Eb Ab piccolo clarinet Casio SK-1 keyboard (with amplifier) percussion (1 performer) : 5 tin cans of different sizes, notated from highest to lowest 1 pair of bongos 1 glockenspiel 2 suspended cymbals (1 large, 1 medium) sandpaper blocks cello This piece represents the fulfillment of a 'sound image' which I'd had in mind for quite a number of years before finding a way to make it happen. The instrumentation is unusual: piccolo, musette, Ab piccolo clarinet, Casio SK-1 (a small keyboard, midway between instrument and toy, which had a certain popularity circa 1985 but which is now considered totally obsolete, if not ridiculous), percussion (playing mainly tin cans), and cello. The ensemble is therefore made up of miniaturized versions of 'normal' instruments, with the exception of the cello. The music is by turns raw and strident, tender and lyric, and is articulated in four contrasted movements.
