In Performance, there are two pianists: one performing the notated music, another working on the improvised (sometimes jazz-inflected) scores, in order to counterbalance the composer/performer duality that is inherent in all my guitar work. The pianists combine resources for two movements, playing side-by-side at the one keyboard, and even help out during the performance by turning pages for the other musicians during some of the more intense musical sections. HHey, we only have two hands each!
