Additional Information
Orion Constellation Theory is a virtuoso work for snare drum and electronics, or for 2 acoustic snare drums. The work unfolds as a series of phrases and variations using Morse code interpretations of the letters O,R,I,O,N. In both versions, the 1st snare part is identical. In the electroacoustic version, the sounds feature exuberant player-pianos, percussion sounds, insects and animals, and other electroacoustic elements. In the acoustic version, the 2nd snare drum plays a rhythmic interpretation of the electroacoustics, resulting in a snare duo of strikingly distinct character. This piece was written for and dedicated to Canadian percussionist Ryan Scott.
