"A Vagabond Song" came to life after discovering the poem of the same name, by Canadian writer Bliss Carman (1861-1929). The music functions as a colourful, rhythmic counterpart to the poem's vibrant ode to the autumnal season. The piece was selected as the winning work in the Association of Canadian Women Composers' national choral composing competition (2005), and as part of the award, was performed by DaCapo Chamber Choir (directed by Leonard Enns), at the Open Ears Festival in Kitchener ON, May 1st, 2005.
