Commissioned by Supriti Bharma and Kate Carr
This Canadian carol, which uses a 16th century French melody, was originally written by Fr. Jean de Brebeuf, a Christian missionary sent to the Huron Tribe. This arrangement for two flutes was commissioned by Supriti Bharma and Kate Carr and written between December, 2009 and July, 2010.There is an antiphonal quality to these two arrangements which seek to describe the austere Canadian North. In one version the flute players stand in two different locations; one group or one person at the front and the other at the back. In the other version all the flute players stand at the front together. Appropriate for flute groups or just two players.
