Misère was written in 2012 for full orchestra. It contains three movements, the last two of which were transcribed by the composer in 2013 for two pianos and 2014 for piano duet. The second movement is a slow dirge, which spins out a mournful melody amidst an ostinato like framework of harmonic material consisting of fifths and fourths. This is followed by a frantic dancelike ostinato. which comprises the closing movement. The momentum is interrupted by a brief rhapsodic interlude, which is alluded to at the end of a frenzied finale.
