Poetry by Joy Kogawa
"I love these poems by Joy Kogawa because they are etchings. Poems whose lines end in an "almost place...perhaps", asking "we shall hear...shall we not hear?" offer us questions, not answers. I chose to write for soprano voice and flute, hoping that this evocative sound will summon the other-worldliness and fragility of the words."
