"Schattenwerk" is a German work that, all in one, refers to the work and play of shadows, silhouettes, images, even shades (ghosts), phantoms and spirits. In my composition, it also alludes to types of variation. Sometimes shadows are slow to react. And not all shadows are furtive; some even like to be heard! [from the score]

"Schattenwerk" est un mot allemand qui, à la fois, fait référence au jeu et au travail d'ombres, de silhouettes, d'images, même de fantômes et d'esprits. Dans ma composition, le mot fait allusion aussi à réagir. De plus, toutes les ombres ne sont pas furtives ; il y en a de celles qui veulent être entendues!
